A career in hairdressing requires a great deal of training, which can be demanding but at the same time exciting, rewarding and fun.
To become a FANTASTIC hairdresser you need : to be a team player, have an ability to listen and communicate, have physical stamina, be diplomatic and have commitment. Good hairdressers are passionate about their work. You can choose which route of training is best for you – either through a college or a reputable salon with a sound training ethos or a combination of both.

GERSHWINS also provide work experience placements for students still at school or on NVQ Levels 1 & 2 at college.

GERSHWINS offers a limited number of apprenticeships each year, which can lead to employment as a Gershwins Stylist with continuation onto NVQ Level 3 and future opportunities to diversify into all aspects of the industry.

SATURDAY TEAM If you want a career in hairdressing and you're leaving school next summer, now's the time to apply for a position on our Saturday Team Programme. We offer an exciting training programme and Saturday / school holiday work in the salon. You'll be ahead of the game with hairdressing skills and knowledge, make new friends, have a great 'real life' insight into an exciting and fast moving industry by working in a busy professional salon and you'll have fun! FUTURE PROFESSIONALS: Competition is fierce to gain one of the few highly sort after training places for students at Gershwins. Creativeness, good communication skills and a passion for hair are some of the key attributes required to be a student at Gershwins, one of the South West's leading training salons. Students have the advantage of learning within a busy professional environment with a strong belief in continual development and commitment to a progressive training programme.
